[Registration begins on Mon 16 Feb 2026]
TUSA is inviting you on the day trip by ferry to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) [for UTAS students only]. We have limited slots to secure the best experience for participants so you’d better act fast!
Home to one of the most controversial private collections of modern art and antiquities in the world, MONA is a provocative and engaging place to spend a few hours or even the night.
What to expect?
This experience brings you on a 30-minute ferry ride where you can escape the riffraff. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the River Derwent at the pointy end of the boat (separate to standard).
There are 99 steps upon arrival, and an accessible entrance via tunnel if you require it.
NOTE: This ticket DOES NOT include complimentary drinks.
Itinerary:
Date: 7th of March (Saturday)
Meeting point: 1 pm (sharp). At Brooke Street Pier Ferry Terminal. Ferry leaves at 1.15 sharp! [https://maps.app.goo.gl/xzimpdKYqv6R7sMT7 ]
2 pm: Arrive at MONA & Immerse in Australia’s largest private collection of art, at your own pace (self-guided)
5 pm: Return ferry to Hobart
5:30 pm : Arrive back at Brooke St Pier
What to prepare:
- There aren’t labels on the walls at Mona. We recommend downloading the O app before your visit. Information to download is at https://mona.net.au/museum/the-o
- TUSA does not provide transportation to and from the ferry terminal. Please arrange your own travel and get yourself to the meeting point on time.
- Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated!
Only under our UTE program, tickets are $15 per person for the entire experience, including ferry return-trip ticket, entry fee, and a brilliant opportunity to make unforgettable memories!
*Please note that the usual course like this is charged at $40 but it has been heavily subsidised by TUSA.
Contact us at ute@tusa.utas.edu.au if you have any questions about this UTE!
