Tickets open 9am, Monday 10th August!
Join us for a memorable day trip
to Bicheno and view the amazing sea life from Tasmania’s only glass bottom boat!
What to expect:
Experience the beauty of Tasmania’s
East Coast with a day trip to the award-winning town of Bicheno.
On arrival at Bicheno (recently
crowned Australia’s best coastal town) we’ll take a 40-minute glass
bottom boat tour to Governor Island Marine Reserve. The
marine reserve is known for its beautiful clear waters, amazing reefs with
kelp and sponges, and abundant marine life. This is a truly unique way to
connect with Tassie’s marine environment if you’re not a diver. With luck we
might also spot Humpback and Southern Right whales as they swim northwards
on their annual migration.
After the boat tour there will be time to explore Bicheno. You might like to buy some local seafood
to eat on the beach at lunchtime or take in the most scenic spots, including:
- Whaler’s Lookout – a short 10-minute walk
and a great spot to view Bicheno and the coastline. - Waub’s Bay – the beautiful white sandy bay
is named after a courageous palawa woman, Wauba Debar, who rescued two sealers
from drowning in the early 1880s. - The Blowhole – a 15-minute walk along the
Bicheno Foreshore Track takes you to one of Australia’s best blowholes. The
waves create a huge spray when they crash through the stunning red rocks. Don’t
stand too close and be careful on the slippery rocks!
Note: we won’t be swimming on this UTE. The water is
still very cold in September, and we won’t be accompanied by a guide holding
a Bronze Medallion (lifesaving qualification).
